Sinking Below the Poverty Level

Currently, the poverty threshold for the United States is an annual income of $22,314 for a family of four. I can't imagine living on that today. That was an income I earned in the 60s and 70s when I first married. My rent then was $75.00 per month, a car cost around $3000, and hamburger was twenty-nine cents a pound. Gasoline wars were prevalent, and fuel was sometimes as little as nineteen cents a gallon.

In whose mind can a family of four survive on such a pittance? Unless you live in a cardboard box or a shelter, rent is going to take the lion's share of that money, and food will take the rest. Where do utilities, clothing, personal items, shoes, and the always, elusive fund for future education come in? I guess getting one's hair done in a salon once in a while is out. How about haircuts for the men and boys? Gasoline to get to and from the grocery store? Car repairs? Insurance?

A survey, released on Tuesday by the advocacy group Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW), found that 45 percent of U.S. residents live in households that struggle to make ends meet. The Census Bureau reports that one out of every seven Americans is “living in poverty” in the United States. I think someone needs to seriously rethink what constitutes a fair wage, and to the new people, looking to get elected, how about remembering what a large percentage of our population need help. Yep, these people definitely need to be fined for not purchasing health insurance as mandated by Obamacare. What's wrong with this picture?

Having been bombarded, for more than two years, with countless stories of the hikers held prisoner in Iran , and having had quite enough of the political correctness so invasive in our daily lexicon, I have decided that somebody needs to say SOMETHING which is politically DIRECT about this whole situation. So, here we go…An open letter to the “hikers.”

Dear Hikers,

What the hell is wrong with you people? Do you come by your stupidity genetically or is it a byproduct of your ideology? Perhaps both.

The Iranians said you were spies but that can’t possibly be true…you’re far too brain dead to be spies.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and take a wild shot at it…You’re all liberals aren’t you?

You went HIKING. Hiking is good. Hiking doesn’t leave a carbon footprint regardless of the amount of fossil fuel you burned to GET to your starting point. You shouldn’t be allowed to walk around the block without supervision. You could have gone for a walk in the park, or hiked on a trail in the mountains – but NOOOOOOOOO.

YOU MORONS!! You decided to go hiking along the border between Iran and Iraq . What exactly did you THINK was going to happen?

Did you think you were going to meet a bunch of Iraqi or Iranian hippy freaks and exchange wildflowers and maybe share some weed??

You didn’t go over there for some noble purpose like building a school or to provide medical services or even to help rebuild a road or a bridge. You went ‘hiking’ in a war zone next to a country that hates us.

Seriously…what the hell???

You managed to wander from the Iraqi side of the border over to the Iranian side. What? No map? No GPS? No common sense…what?

Did the Iranians not know the words to Kum ba yah??

You went to Iranian jail didn’t you? All three of you – but one of you got to go home early because of your delicate constitution, didn’t you? Did you enjoy your two years in Iranian jail? Did you??

The Omanis bailed your sorry butts out of stir – but had they asked ME, I would have told them to save their money and let you rot. As far as I’m concerned, the Iranians could have kept you but as it is now…WE’RE stuck with you again and, frankly, it’s a waste of our effort to watch over you numb nuts.

When you get here, no doubt you’ll be treated like celebrities and the media will be knocking at your collective doors. I’m sure you’ll either sell your story to People magazine or, maybe first, you’ll grace the pages of Newsweek with a cover stating…’We’re All Iranian Prisoners Now!’ You’ll tell us you were ‘well treated,’ and you’ll thank everybody who arranged for your release.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you thanked Ahmadinejad.

Do you three have ANY idea what REALLY happened? ANY IDEA???
You weren’t ‘arrested’ for being ‘spies’ you were KIDNAPPED for being AMERICANS. You weren’t ‘released’ after a ‘court’ hearing; you were PUT ON DISPLAY and RANSOMED. Now, because of YOU, dictators and other criminals around the world KNOW they can kidnap Americans and get paid to let them go.

Despite Rumors, I'm still alive...

I've neglected this blog for far too long. I think I stopped posting because my intense disapproval of our president has caused me to lose friends, people who follow my other blog, and a little bit of my sanity. But after listening to the evening news and hearing reports of his requirement that EVERYONE BUY health insurance by 2014 or face a fine, Ihad to come back and blog or scream. Does he really think people don't have health insurance by choice? If you aren't employed with benefits and this law is inacted, does the money miraculously appear? Just my share toward insurance through my retirement benefits is extremely expensive for someone on a fixed pension. According to the information below, small businesses are unable to afford to provide health benefits and are cancelling those in existence now.

If Obama's re-elected in 2012, this country will get exactly what it deserves, and I'm seriously thinking of defecting. Herman Cain, even with sexual allegations made against him, and Gov. Perry, with his memory lapse, can do a better job blindfolded than Obama can with both eyes open...and of course that's important for his teleprompter. The man might be a good human, but he's a lousy president.

Hey, B.O. (yep...great initials for something stinky), how about taking a long hard look at Medicare and fixing the problems that have bankrupted that system...plus the Veteran's Administration, and Social Security. More and more doctors are planning to stop accepting the government plan that we've all paid into our working lives. Is the answer more government-mandated medical care? Just think of everything the gov. operates, the mess those programs are in, and ask yourself, do you want Washington making your health decisions for you? They can't even agree on a pee break. Remember, those voted for American to have Obamacare are exempt from the plan themselves. What happened to the old saying, "What good for the goose...?"

Fix Our Government

Boy, I have neglected this blog. Can't believe it's been almost three months since I posted. Of course having eye surgery twice in December kept me away from the computer for a bit. I received this as an email today and it makes perfect sense to me. Where else can you get elected to a career or vote to raise your own pay? Let's see...hmm, should I vote yes to give me more money or not? What person is not going to up his wages even when the rest of the country is struggling.

Congressional Term Limits

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in
1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. Term Limits.

12 years only, one of the possible options below ..

A. Two Six-year Senate terms

B. Six Two-year House terms

C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House term

2. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective immediately.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

The Jews are NOT promoting brainwashing children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non-Muslims. General Eisenhower Warned Us. Good news! A Federal court has ruled that most Americans have standing to challenge the Constitutionality of Obamacare. The District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan recently ruled that Americans who “reorganize their affairs,” and “forego certain spending today, so they will have the funds to pay for health insurance when the individual mandate takes effect in 2014,” have standing. This is most Americans.

The Obama administration filed a notice in our lawsuit last week acknowledging the Michigan court’s ruling and its relevance to our case. However, their notice reemphasized their assertion that Congress has authority to enact Obamacare.

Today we filed a response to that notice. Our response demonstrates, once again, that our lawsuit against Obamacare is unique. Rather than arguing that current precedent limits Congressional authority, we used this opportunity to reiterate and emphasize the argument that we have been making since the beginning: Current precedent leaves zero limitations on Congressional authority, and that violates the clear meaning of the Constitution. Obamacare is simply the latest in a long line of Federal legislation that increasingly intrudes upon personal rights. If the courts don’t overturn the flawed precedent currently in place, Obamacare will not be the end of these intrusions. Ours is the only lawsuit against Obamacare that is making this point in this way. Ours is the only lawsuit that explicitly acknowledges that Congress currently has no limits on its authority, and argues that this must change. Ours is the only case that begins and ends with our assertion that specific precedent must be overturned.

Now that the “standing” issue has been effectively eliminated, the court is left with one simple question: Will it follow the clear meaning of the Constitution, or will it follow clearly erroneous precedent? Our latest filing presented this question very clearly.

Our first appearance in court for the Obamacare Class Action lawsuit has been scheduled. The Eastern District of Tennessee noticed all parties that a scheduling conference has been set for November 19th in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While a scheduling conference is usually routine, this one will likely become a discussion of the pending motions. The judge from the Eastern District of Tennessee now has all the briefs related to our motion for preliminary injunction and to the defendants’ motion to dismiss. If a separate hearing date is not set before the November 19th scheduling conference, we’d like to encourage everyone that can be present for the scheduling conference to be there. We will update you further as that date approaches.

We are excited that a Federal judge now has the opportunity to make history. It only takes one brave judge to re-establish our Constitutional Republic by overturning Wickard v. Filburn.

The state's largest insurer has been approved to raise health premium rates by 41 percent to 47 percent for some of its policies sold to individual buyers, in the largest price hikes yet seen in Connecticut since the adoption of national health care reform.

For all of its individual market plans, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has received approval to raise rates by at least 19 percent -- including a range of 30 percent to 44 percent for the brand of plans in the individual market that was most popular in 2009, Century Preferred.

The reason for the increases is the new federal health reform mandates, according to Anthem and the state Department of Insurance, which is defending its approval against charges by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. Those reforms took effect Sept. 23.

So the "Affordable" Health Care Act is hurting affordability by up to 47%?

Connecticut is just latest in a long line of "learning what is in the bill after it passed" .

Recent news shows that Colorado is raising rates in Colorado, ending sales of child-only policies and blaming their actions in part on the federal health reform law. (source)

Michigan- Some health insurers in Southeast Michigan are beginning to charge higher premiums to employers who offer high-deductible employee health plans and then 'wrap' the plans by buying gap insurance or giving workers subsidies to cover the deductibles.

NYT reported that major insurance companies have stopped offering new child-only policies because under Obamacare it would be unprofitable.

Health insurers say they plan to raise premiums for some Americans as a direct result of the health overhaul in coming weeks, complicating Democrats' efforts to trumpet their signature achievement before the midterm elections.

The search engines are full of these articles and before people start screaming about those "nasty" insurance companies, businesses are not started with the goal of losing money and when laws are passed that that will cost a business their profits, those losses are always handed down to consumers.

It is called Capitalism.

Capitalism is an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated for a private profit; decisions regarding supply, demand, price, distribution, and investments are made by private actors in the market rather than by central planning by the government; profit is distributed to owners who invest in businesses, and wages are paid to workers employed by businesses and companies.

The icing on this Obamacare cake is that while insurance companies are raising premiums, Obamacare also requires by threat of fines that you, the consumer, pay those prices and mandate that everyone spend those extra dollars to buy insurance.

Thank heavens a Florida judge has agreed to move forward with the lawsuits by 20 states arguing that mandate is not constitutional and that Congress does not have the right to force people to buy any product by virtue of simply being alive.

Judge Vinson disagreed. “It is not based on an activity that they make the choice to undertake,” he wrote. “It is based solely on citizenship and on being alive.”

Tolerance

I'm usually a very tolerant person. I've tried to teach my children the same trait, and also instill in them that we are all created equal, but...there comes a time when tolerance isn't a virtue, more a task.

Why, of all the available land in the U.S. do the Muslims want to build a mosque at ground zero? No one is disputing their right to their religion, although I think we have bent over backwards for this one. We are just questioning the sense in establishing a mosque in the very place where the radical side of the religion caused the death of so many innocent people strictly because the Koran tells them to kill all who don't abide by the rules of their belief. I think this is the only religion that abdicates death as a punishment. Do I agree they should be allowed to build at ground zero? Hell NO!

This came in an email today, and I think this person (unknown to me) has the right idea. If we are going to be tolerant...then let's be tolerant to everyone.

I am appalled that so many of my friends are against the mosque near Ground Zero. We should allow it in order to promote tolerance.

I also propose that two gay nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque to promote tolerance in the mosque. We could call them "The Turban Cowboy" and "You Mecca Me Hot".

Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork and have an open barbeque with pork ribs and across the street a very daring lingerie store called " Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret.” And next door in flashing lights open an Adult Toy Shop. I think for the purpose of tolerance we should build accordingly around the Mosque.

Just sharing this letter to let you know that I am one of the thousands who signed the petition against Obamacare. So, if in the next few months, you hear on the news that people are disappearing without a trace, check the list and see if any of the names of those missing appear there. After watching the video I can see how real this is. I'm turning sixty-five in a few months, and I'd like to have the choice of being treated by a doctor or being discounted by congress as a waste of money.

Two weeks ago I filed an amended complaint adding 25,444 of you as co-plaintiffs in our lawsuit against Obamacare. The complaint ballooned from 9 pages to 284 pages, simply by adding your names.

I also filed a motion for preliminary injunction. This is a request for a court order prohibiting the Federal government from enforcing any aspect of Obamacare pending the outcome of our lawsuit.

Last week I flew to DC with a few representatives of the health care industry to personally serve Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the Department of Justice. We left copies of the complaint, motion for injunction, and summons with staffers at the defendant’s offices. It’s not often that a Congressional candidate, a physician, an emergency room nurse, a Tea Party activist, and a reporter crowd into a Congressional office and plop down a 284 page lawsuit with 25,444 named plaintiffs. It was a sight to see, and quite a fun day. When we got to the White House the Secret Service agents refused to let us leave the documents at the gate. Then the White House administrative office two blocks from the White House refused to let us in the door. We’re now mailing the President’s copy of the complaint to the White House. We could have mailed all of the documents, but personally serving them was an important symbol of our frustration with the current leaders of our government. Our efforts were rewarded by Fox News with a Friday night interview by former Bush White House Press Secretary Dana Perino on Greta Van Susturen’s show. The defendants now have 60 days to respond to the complaint, and only 14 days to respond to the motion for preliminary injunction from the time Obama receives his copy. Once the defendants respond to the motion, we will have 7 days to answer any arguments they raise. Then the Federal Court can either rule on the motion or set a hearing. Most likely the court will set a hearing for some time in September or early October. I’ll let you all know as soon as I hear anything from the defendants or the Court. We will have at least a couple weeks notice before the hearing if you would like to make plans to be there. You do not have to attend, I will be representing you. Attendance is completely optional.

Joy Behar, Barack Obama, and the end of civilization

I have done everything I can do to try and save civilization.

Maybe I will feel differently after a weekend of recharging my batteries, but I am prepared to throw in the towel. Maybe al-Qaeda should just win and let us become part of the Caliphate. I can convert from Judaism to Islam and pray toward Mecca five times a day.

I truly believed America was the beacon for the world, a global light of intellect meant to nourish the cranial cavity of eager learners from everywhere. We had the best university system in the world.

This was all before “The View” came on television.

It is over. The war against nonsense has been waged, and I lost. Nonsense has won.
First President Clinton was asked if he wore boxers or briefs. Instead of verbally making the girl who asked the question cry (I praise Newt Gingrich for condemning the stupidity of the question vociferously when it was asked of him. The left called him “mean,” but he was not asked that again.), he answered it and laughed.
Now this. Now President Barack Obama decides that Chris Wallace or the Ghost of Tim Russert are not his speed. He always acts like he is the smartest guy in the room, but this time he did not have to act.

When George W. Bush as Governor went on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, a bitter David Letterman caustically remarked, “well there’s a real meeting of the minds.” Multiply that comment by 100 and we have the discussion between President Obama and Joy Behar.

Women get angry when I talk about repealing the 19th Amendment giving them the right to vote, but I can say with certainty that men do not make up the majority of the audience watching the dumbest program on tv since…well…ever (I heard “My Mother the Car” was bad but have not personally seen it). Women should be required to sign an oath saying they boycott this program before retaining suffrage.
(In the interest of gender equality, men caught watching the show should be excommunicated from the male gender and then denied suffrage.)
Even by liberal idiocy standards (an oxymoron) The View has wrecked what shred of desire I have to watch television outside of NFL Network and Fox News.
President Obama was asked about Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, and some ridiculous creature named Snookie.

(If he was being genuine when claiming not to know who or what Snookie is, I praise him for that. I apologize for knowing, and take an oath that I have never watched her show or a full episode of The View.)

We are in the middle of a War on Terror. The world is on fire. Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, and other global hot spots threaten to blow up the entire world forever.

I care about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie taking on the teachers’ unions. I don’t care about some brainless twit whose hobbies most likely include making snapping sounds with her bubble gum.

(Enough about Behar. I meant Snookie on that one.)

I admit to watching Desperate Housewives, but I would not discuss it with the President of the United States.

How the heck did Barbara Walters go from interviewing Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat to finding Paris Hilton fascinating?

Just because Joy Behag or Joy Bizarre or whatever her new nickname is decides to dumb down America does not mean the leader of the free world has to help her.

Do we want to be known as a nation of imbeciles? Do we want to be the stupidity capital of the world?

The left loves to paint every conservative as stupid (when not making them out to be evil), but I don’t remember President George W. Bush or Vice President Cheney being subjected to such idiocy.

Liberals who complain that conservatives in that administration violated the law indiscriminately are wrong. Joy Behar has never been waterboarded. In fact, if we dropped her in a Taliban cave she could talk them to death. If blaring rock music could bring down Noriega, one week of watching The View would get the most hardened terrorists to surrender.

(Liberals would be in a civil liberties bind since the program could be considered a form of torture.)

Some people will say that I should lighten up. I say these people should be beaten with baseball bats.

(I am not advocating violence. Besides, outside of my few liberal readers, I doubt violence is the approach of my audience. We don’t want to kill the left. We just want them to develop laryngitis.)

Unless Joy Behar can explain the Laffer Curve or supply side economics, she should be quiet and let the Wall Street Journal staff interview politicians. Every moment Joyless Bimbo is speaking is a moment the administration is not spending time with Dr. Walter Williams or Dr. Thomas Sowell.

I want to hear the president discuss how he plans to fix Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, not watch Joy Behar tell Whoppers while eating Big Macs.

(Doing “Joy Behar is fat and ugly” jokes are beneath the dignity of this blog, and used solely to illustrate her lack of talent in relying on “conservatives are dumb” jokes. Although in all fairness, she is overweight and hideous inside and out.)
Unless she can explain the intricacies of an oil rig and how to permanently stop explosions, the president should spend his time being interviewed by business consultants who work in the industry.

Unless she has connections to the National Security Council, the President should sit down with Colonel David Hunt, Colonel Ralph Peters, or Colonel Bill Cowan.
If a bunch of women want to spend time babbling about complete and utter nonsense in a dialect that is approximately 70% liberal gibberish and 30% apolitical idiocy, they can do so without the president.

The dignity of the office, assuming it still exists after this man, deserves better than this garbage.

Maybe I am overreacting. It’s not like we are locked in a life and death struggle for the very existence of liberty and freedom.

Every second spent flying to and from the studio, in addition to the minutes airing the show, was precious time that could have been spent on improving our national security.

I do have rebuttal for Eric. Not all women watch The View. As I said on your blog, The remind me of a bunch of screeching cats on a fence in the backyard. Makes me want to throw my shoe at them. The number of finished sentences are easily counted on one hand.

But I don't watch the NFL channel either. I have a big problem with men who scratch their balls in public and make more money in one season than the rest of us make in a lifetime just because people idolize them and the game. Thing about how much good could be done if every NFL and NBA player donated a couple million to charities or finding a cure for Cancer. Don't know why I worry about it. With Obama at our helm, we're all destined to die soon anyhow, either by nuclear weapons or denied healthcare for those over the age of 60.

Barrack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America 's future. He is the best thing ever.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barrack Obama as the source of America 's resurrection. Barrack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That's why Barrack Obama is such a good thing for America .

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips - they've gotten off the fence. They've woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barrack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we've slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barrack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barrack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They're organizing, they're studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they're reading history and case law, they're showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 years - the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barrack Hussein Obama.

Illegal Immigration - spreading faster than H1N1

Yes...this is how some states deal with illegals coming into their territory. Pay for signs to warn motorists, but don't do anything to eliminate the problem.

I borrowed the following post to share here from Wake Up America. Hooray for the states who have stepped up and flexed their muscles. Tennessee...are you listening? Here, illegals get work through temp agencies who fail to do the background checks, but collect big bucks from the employers while the workers get cheated for fair wages and overtime. Arizona Immigration Law Used As 'Prototype' For 12 To 17 States

The latest state is Ohio to be added to a growing list of states that will be using Arizona's immigration law as a prototype in writing up their own laws to protect their states from the ever growing threat of illegal immigration.

Phoenix Examiner:

Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law is being discussed by Greater Cincinnati officials who want a similar law in Ohio.
Ohio is not alone in looking into anti-illegal immigration bills as they are among 12 to 17 states considering using the Arizona law as a prototype because they believe the federal government has failed to act in the past and it is now up to the states to protect themselves from being a haven for illegals coming across the Mexican border.
According to an article in The Sunday Enquirer on June 6, 2010, Butler County Sheriff Rick Jones and Republican State Rep. Courtney Combs of Ross Township traveled to Arizona to learn more about the anti-illegal immigration law, SB1070, and want to enact a similar bill giving police agencies similar power as that of federal agents to stop and detain suspected illegal immigrants.

These states will be watching the DOJ lawsuit against Arizona carefully as to what to include and what to avoid in creating their own laws on preventing illegal immigration and enforcing laws to address the illegal immigration problem.

Other states considering, proposing or discussing Arizona style immigration laws include but are not limited to;

Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska (Town) North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island (RI already enforces federal law and checks immigration status on people detained for any legal reason), Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah.

The list continues to grow.

Senators Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) and David Vitter (R-Louisiana), have introduced the DeMint-Vitter senate amendment that would block funding of the Obama administration lawsuit against the Arizona immigration law, via Phoenix Examiner.

In a press release posted on his senate web page DeMint stated:

“The federal government is rewarding illegal behavior and encouraging many more to enter our nation illegally when they refuse to enforce our laws. States along the border are facing kidnapings, drug trafficking, human trafficking and gang violence and they have a duty to keep their residents safe. Instead of suing states for doing his job, the President should get serious and stop holding border security hostage to pass amnesty and score points with his liberal base.”

Senator Vitter commented by saying: “The state of Arizona is simply taking responsibility for a problem that the federal government has neglected for years, but Washington’s only response is to oppose these new enforcement efforts and take them to court. The Obama administration should not use taxpayers’ money to pay for these lawsuits that the American people overwhelmingly oppose.”

The movie I watched so long along that indicated big brother was watching seemed like a ridiculous notion. Now, I see most of what I thought would never happen in this country, happening, and it scares me. Why doesn't it scare everyone? Are we ready to set aside the constitution and allow the current administration to rob us of all our rights? Our current President thinks so little of our opinions, he is making decisions that affect each and everyone of us without thought to our feelings. With Obamacare, the government has access to our medical records and the ability to determine our worthiness of healthcare, so why not allow them access to our financial records. Is there nothing we hold sacred? Of course we do, but the government doesn't agree with us.

US President Barack Obama on Thursday praised a deal between the United States and the European Union to share banking data as a key tool in the fight against terror. "The threat of terrorism faced by the United States and the European Union continues and, with this agreement, all of our citizens will be safer," Obama said in a statement released by the White House.
"This new, legally binding agreement reflects significant additional data privacy safeguards but still retains the effectiveness and integrity of this indispensable counter-terrorism program," he said.
European MPs earlier Thursday voted 484-109 for a new five-year deal to allow the United States to again have access to banking information from August 1.
The Terrorist Finance Tracking Programme had allowed US access to information from the interbank money transfer system SWIFT, which is based in Brussels, but EU lawmakers' main concern was how personal information would be used by US authorities.
The TFTP has "provided critical investigative leads -- more than 1,550 to EU Member States -- since its creation after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks," Obama said.
Such leads, he said, have "aided countries around the world in preventing or investigating many of the past decade's most visible and violent terrorist attacks.
US Vice President Joe Biden sought to ease European concerns during a trip to Europe in May, saying "Europeans and Americans alike have valued greatly the privacy of our citizens."
Under the new deal, Europol, the European police organization, will check the validity of US requests.
"We are determined to protect citizens of all nations while also upholding fundamental rights, using every legitimate tool available to combat terrorism that is consistent with our laws and principles," said Obama in welcoming the deal.

Yes, I joined in a class action lawsuit against the government. I know Obamacare is going to impact me and my family, and here's an email I received that states exactly what I fear will happen to me:

Employers could earn billions by ditching insurance

If you're not fed up with the ObamaCare lies yet, wait until you hear this next one
-- because it's a doozy, even by crooked Washington standards.

The president promised that his plan won't change a thing for people who already get health insurance through an employer... but it looks like someone forgot to tell the employers that, because corporate America is already planning to cut you loose.

The new law gives most employers a choice: Fund health insurance for your workers, or pay a fine. Sounds great for the workers -- until you run the numbers.

Don't bother getting out your calculator, corporate America has already beaten you to the punch. It took them all of 12 seconds to figure out that it would be cheaper to kill their insurance plans and pay the fines.

Just look at AT&T. They might provide lousy phone service, but they're pretty good with math -- they've calculated that ditching health insurance for employees would cost them $600 million in ObamaCare fines, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But since they paid $2.4 billion in health care costs last year, that's the quickest and easiest $1.8 billion they'll ever make.

Caterpillar, John Deere and Verizon are all crunching their own numbers, according to the Journal... and I'll bet your employer is as well.

Remember, once they drop your insurance you will be required by law to buy your own -- and don't think for a moment that it'll be cheaper or better. Some of my middle-class friends will have to pay $1,000 a month or more for their "free" ObamaCare.

Meanwhile, the Congressional Budget Office said a few months ago that discretionary spending for the first decade of ObamaCare would be $55 billion. Now, they're saying it'll be $110 billion.

In a few more months, who knows -- maybe it'll be a zillion dollars. Whatever it is, you know who'll be stuck with that bill.

Yes, the University of California has already formed a task group to look into the billions of dollars spent on health care for retirees as part of the benefits package we earned working there for years. The cost represents a huge part of the budget, and as you know California politicians have run that state into the ground. I'm hoping Arnold won't be baaaaakkkk, ever. I already pay $315 for my portion of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and if faced with a drastic increase, I don't know how I'll handle it. Plus, I don't want the government deciding when and if I need treatment.

We want to stop Obamacare and we want to stop it now. That is why I've decided to file a motion for preliminary injunction and serve it along with our amended complaint. A motion for preliminary injunction is a request that a court order be issued at the beginning of a case. Such orders prevent one party from acting while the case is being heard. Our motion will be requesting that the court prevent the Federal government from enforcing any aspect of Obamacare, while our case is pending. These types of orders are typically used to prevent one party from being harmed by the other party while the case is being heard. Federal cases can take years to be resolved, so a large amount of harm can be done while you’re waiting for the court to act. That is certainly the case here.

To get such an injunction granted we must prove that 1) We will be irreparably harmed without the order; 2) we are likely to win our case; and 3) that the public will be better served by granting the order than by denying it. With strong legal reasoning and overwhelming public opposition to the government takeover of our health care, our case meets all three of these factors and supports granting a preliminary injunction.

Such motions are sometimes denied, especially when the party requesting the injunction is also arguing that well-established precedent should be overturned. However, the logic of our arguments cannot be ignored. It really boils down to whether or not we get a judge that has the guts to uphold the clear meaning of the Constitution instead of bowing to politically motivated precedent from 70+ years ago. It comes down to whether or not we get a Judge that upholds his oath of office.

Also, such a motion allows us to make our arguments in a way that grabs the attention of the government, the media, and the American people. We will be raising our voices again and making it known that we intend to win. We will not quietly sit by while dozens of new agencies are created to take away our freedom, while the IRS is empowered to become even more invasive of our privacy, nor while the the government continues to ignore the true reforms that are needed in health care.

This motion for preliminary injunction has the potential to stop Obamacare in its tracks. It will be filed in conjunction with the amended complaint that adds you and the more than 32,000 of your fellow Americans that have joined to date. Let's make a much stronger statement to the court and make that number more than 100,000! Please tell everyone you know about our effort to take back our government. Please encourage them to join us. Even if you’ve told them before, please tell them again. Most people need to hear about something at least three times before they act. If we have 100,000 plaintiffs the Judge we will be more likely to follow his Oath and grant the injunction. Let's make this happen!

Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.

Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work. It went smoothly.

Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans. It went smoothly as well.

And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican Nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback'. It was done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them without much fanfare!

Now...if they could deport the illegal's back then - they could sure do it today, if they had the political will.

Try walking about without a passport in the middle eastern countries. You might find yourself jailed for life, or even worse, beheaded. What about illegal immigrants are people missing in Arizona's new law? No one wants to deport U.S. citizens, so get a grip. If you can prove you're here legally, then you have no worries. It's no different than passing through the scanner at the airport and being pulled aside to determine you aren't a terrorism threat to the country. It happens to all of us at one time or another. Put on your big girl or boy pants and stop sniveling. The Democrats have whipped this into a fury about freedoms and rights that has nothing to do with citizens.

I'm happy that others are taking a stand and not leaving Arizona out to dry as California has, and I'm sad that Tennessee is not among the states listed in the fight. I propose that we give California back to Mexico. If the state is so opposed to deportation and threatens Arizona with boycotts, that pretty much explains why they drove their own state into Bankruptcy. It's a well-known fact that the majority of farm laborers in that state are in the U.S. illegally and that the legislators there are mostly morons. Yep, born and raised in California, and happy not to be there.

Arizona Does Not Stand Alone On Immigration Law- 17 Other States Join Fight

Mens News Daily and WND report that 17 other states are joining with Arizona in the battle against illegal immigrations.

Mens News daily:

First, President Barack Obama allowed Calderon to slam American citizens in Arizona over the new immigration enforcement law and then Obama openly agreed with Calderon statements that denigrated patriotic Americans.

Later, when Calderon lectured lawmakers on the floor of the U.S. Senate about Arizona’s immigration policy, the man known as “the Mexican moocher” — because of the billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars he receives yearly – was given a standing ovation by members of the Obama administration and Democrat members of both houses of Congress.

Two Obama cabinet members — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Attorney General Eric Holder — stood and enthusiastically applauded Calderon’s arrogant speech. It should be noted that both of these members of the Obama national security team admitted they failed to read a law that they felt qualified to bash repeatedly.

Meanwhile, one of America’s national organizations fighting against illegal immigration announced Friday that 17 additional U.S. states are now filing versions of Arizona’s SB 1070 law which is designed to help local police enforce America’s existing immigration laws.

Sadly, on Friday the Director of Immigration & Customs Enforcement, John Morton, says he will not deport any illegal aliens referred to his office by Arizona police officers or sheriff’s deputies.
Numerous national and local polls indicated that 60-81% of Americans support local police enforcing immigration laws.

“Our national network of activists have been working overtime trying to help the state of Arizona and the brave Arizonans who have passed this bill,” said William Gheen, President of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC. “Arizona no longer stands alone and we have now documented state lawmakers filing, or announcing they will file, versions of the Arizona bill in seventeen states! We will not stop until all states are protected from invasion as required by the US Constitution.”

The 17 states claiming to be joining Arizona’s fight against criminal aliens – as well as corrupt Mexican politicians or criminals serving in Mexican police or military forces — are as follows:

What's Wrong With This Picture

A thousand students from various high schools in the Southern California area of Montebello marched in protest to the new Arizona Immigration laws. I suppose this is a summary of what they think they are protesting. It's a well known-fact that California hosts a predominant Hispanic population, but this is outrageous. If people truly feel that the Mexican flag needs to be flown, then why don't they go live in Mexico instead of mocking the freedoms of this country. Of course one student in particular was fingered for the "crime," but the fact that onlookers stood by and did nothing speaks volumes about what our children are learning in school about America and what a great country this is.

Check out this set of Immigration laws:

1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools.

2. All ballots will be in this nation's language.

3. All government business will be conducted in our language.

4. Non-residents will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.

5. Non-citizens will NEVER be able to hold political office.

6 Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs. Any burden will be deported.

7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount at least equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

8. If foreigners come here and buy land... options will be restricted. Certain parcels including waterfront property are reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

9. Foreigners may have no protests; no demonstrations, no waving of a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies. These will lead to deportation.

10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be actively hunted &, when caught, sent to jail until your deportation can be arranged. All assets will be taken from you.

Hey, remember when we conservatives said that if you let the federal government into everybody’s healthcare, pretty soon it will stick its peering eyes and groping hands into our personal business?
Welcome to “pretty soon,” thanks to Wisconsin Democrat Ron Kind.
Kind has introduced a bill that would commandeer your health insurer to report to the federal government the body mass index (BMI) - i.e., height and weight - of your children every year from age 2 to 18:

States receiving federal grants provided for in the bill would be required to annually track the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. The grant-receiving states would be required to mandate that all health care providers in the state determine the Body Mass Index of all their patients in the 2-to-18 age bracket and then report that information to the state government. The state government, in turn, would be required to report the information to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for analysis.
The Healthy Choices Act–introduced by Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee….amends the Public Health Services Act by stating that health care providers must record the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. “The provision relates to all children in states that accept grants under the bill,” a spokesperson for Rep. Kind told CNSNews.com. “….BMI will be taken at times when the child makes an otherwise scheduled doctor’s visit.”

Let’s leave aside the many methodological problems with BMI as a measurement of obesity (such as the fact that muscular, athletic males are almost always classed as obese). The bill requires federal taxpayers to lay out yet more money to create yet another intrusive apparatus for tracking and storing information that, for example, your 16 year old daughter might regard as rather personal:

To pay for implementing BMI data gathering, Sec. 102 of the bill states that the federal government will give grants to states that meet certain criteria, including having “the capacity to store basic demographic information (including date of birth, gender and geographic area of residence), height, weight, and immunization data for each resident of the state.”
The grants also will pay for personnel and equipment necessary to measure patients’ BMI.

And naturally, any child with a BMI over a specified percentile will be nagged to get government help. Of course, Rep. Kind swears that “any data used to generate a report on the BMI data collected would not include patients’ names,” but even if the data-security provisions are foolproof in that regard, there’s still going to be an awful lot of identifiable information that will be required to be stored in government databases. And passed on to “Congress and other government officials, including the secretaries of education and agriculture,” for that matter. The same people who go into shrieking tizzies at the idea of requiring adults to show a valid driver’s licenses as proof of citizenship if they get stopped for traffic violations want to create a gigantic database of children’s physical proportions. This is, by the way, the same Ron Kind whose GOP opponent in 2006 went after his history of supporting, uh, interesting government studies:

The ad states Kind doesn’t have a problem spending money per se, but that “he would just rather spend it on sex.” The ad then details-with citations to various NIH grants-legislation Kind is said to have voted for that included funds to:
1. Study the sex lives of Vietnamese prostitutes.
2. Study the masturbation habits of old men.
3. Study the bisexual, transgendered, and two-spirited Aleutian Eskimos.
4. Pay teenage girls to watch pornographic movies with probes connected to their genitalia.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is government without limits or a sense of personal space. It’s Michelle Obama’s and Ron Kind’s America.

Israel to America: No, we can’t!

NOTE: This letter was "blogjacked" with permission from Eric, the owner of Tygrrrexpress. Clicking on the title will take you to his site. I'm embarrassed at the way Israel has been disregarded by the United States as they have always been our staunch allies. At a time when Iran has explicitly announced they plan to remove Israel from the face of the map, I find it disconcerting that "we" are more interested in foisting our opinions on the Israelis and telling them how to handle the Palestinians who have encroached on their land and bomb them at every opportunity with weapons funded by Hamas. Our world is falling apart one nation at a time while our current President is trying to build bridges between the U.S. and Muslim extremists who believe in only one thing. If you aren't with them, you're dead. Honestly...not the type of alliances we need, because you can't reason with insanity and people who believe "their God" tells them to on strap bombs, blow up cars, busses, businesses and kill innocent people.

My column today has been “outsourced.” My mother forwarded me this letter from an Israeli citizen. I have never met the man. His message is delivered in a more gracious manner than I would deliver it, but his points must be heeded.

“Dear Mr. President,

Earlier this month, your Secretary of State told a forum of Jewish leaders that ‘sometimes friends need to tell each other the hard truth’. Well Mr. President, allow me, on behalf of my people, to return the courtesy. You have always been rhetorically supportive of Israel, but the incongruence of your actions in the first year of your presidency have left us Israelis, and Jews worldwide, scratching their heads in bewilderment. Mr. President, here’s the hard truth from an Israeli father of 3 daughters, under the age of 6.

No we can’t take any chances when it comes to the physical security of our land, our people or my girls. There exists no room for error. Security is the primary priority.

You see, we learn from our history, and it teaches us a simple truth: No we can’t count on the promises or protection of other nations when our people face an existential threat. The world watched, immovable, as we were slaughtered by the Nazis; In every decade of Israel ’s existence, its neighbors, or the Palestinians waged war on us, and the world watched in relative silence. In the years after the so-called Oslo Peace Treaty, the world remained silent as Israelis faced hundreds of Palestinian suicide bombings, stabbings, drive-by shootings, and kidnappings. The world did however feel free to openly criticize us when we set up check posts and built a security fence to protect ourselves.

No we can’t understand how, in 2006, when over 4,000 Hezbollah missiles rained down on a third of the Israeli population, the leaders of the world found it important to criticize Israel’s military reaction. Similarly we read their criticisms that were splashed across the headlines of the global media during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in 2008. They remained silent during the preceding 6 years that the Kassam rockets from Gaza forced Israel ’s Southern population to sleep in bomb shelters, and did not commend Israel ’s military restraint. Of course, that changed as the Israeli military went into Gaza to locate and destroy the Hamas rocket launchers.

No we can’t believe that you would expect your governments to react any differently, if you and your children were faced with the similar threats.

No we can’t stomach the thought of a holocaust-denying, Hezbollah- and Hamas-funding Iranian President, who in the same breath openly states that his intentions are for Iran to achieve nuclear capabilities, and for the destruction of the ‘Zionist entity’.

No we can’t imagine you doing anything more than proposing more painful sanctions on Iran – and what do you call it – ‘containment’? This is where he ends up getting the nuclear weapons he seeks, right?

No we can’t accept a divided Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel , and of the Jewish people. It is not ‘the third holiest city’, as it is for the Moslems. It is the only holy city of the Jewish people. It has been so for over 3,000 years. Since coming under Israeli sovereignty all religions have been able to visit and practice openly and freely. Oh – and you should know that the ‘Waqf’, those Palestinians who control the Temple Mount in Jerusalem , do not allow any other religions, Jew or Christian, to pray there. I even hear that swaying or the silent moving of the lips is forbidden.

So, no we can’t have friends dictating to us where in Jerusalem we can or cannot build – or feeling insulted when we do as we please in our own land.

No we can’t believe that giving the Palestinian people a land of their own is such a high priority on your foreign policy agenda. Considering their civil rights and terrorist track-record, and the growing influence of Hamas as the likely ruling party. Mr. President, did you know that when the Palestinian Authority came to power in 1994, the first piece of legislation that it passed was the death penalty for any Palestinian who sells land to Jews. Over 100 Palestinians have died, under sentence or extra-judicially, for such sales in the last 15 years. Is this the ‘two-state solution’™ that you imagine?

No we can’t comprehend why you would spend the first year of your presidency hugging, bowing and warming to those shining leaders of freedom and democracy Venezuela’s Chavez, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, or Mubarak of Egypt. I know you’re aware of the brutality and lack of freedoms in such non-democracies – the beheadings, the inability of a woman to bear witness in court, or to simply drive, the lack of tolerance when it comes to people who are different – be it culture, religion, or sexual orientation.

And No we can’t understand why, in Israel, where the opposite is true, where Arabs enjoy more freedoms than in any Arab country in the world – freedoms of speech and expression, the press, religion, tolerance to the gay and lesbian community, gender equality, you choose to make a big deal about Jews building in their holiest city - Jerusalem ? We’re an easy target, we know, but please, how about finding something more substantial to make an issue of – and about a non-democracy.

No we can’t fathom why on earth you don’t get us Israelis yet. We Israelis and our governments have repeatedly demonstrated an unwavering commitment to peace, and a willingness to pay a high price for it. In 1947, we accepted the UN’s ‘two-state’ resolution on the partition of Palestine, despite the fact that we would not have had any control of Jerusalem or the surrounding neighborhoods; The Arabs rejected it, and instead 6 Arab nations declared war on our fledgling state. In 1979 we gave up a piece of land greater than the size of the state of Israel , the Sinai, for peace with Egyptians. In 1999, we unilaterally withdrew from South Lebanon , allowing Hezbollah to set up its bases in our stead. A year later, Israeli PM Ehud Barak offered the Palestinians ‘the deal of the century’ – 97% of the West Bank, 100% of the Gaza strip, the dismantling of 63 settlements and agreeing that the East Jerusalem neighborhoods would become the capital of their new state. This too, was rejected by the Palestinians. In 2005, Israeli PM Sharon, without negotiations or demanding of concessions, unilaterally pushed through his disengagement plan that led to the dismantling of 21 settlements in the Gaza Strip and 4 in the West Bank .

No we can’t trust you….yet. Trust is earned. You see, Mr. President, I teach my girls to pay little attention to words and close attention to deeds. My people have demonstrated by deed that we are willing to pay a high price for peace and security. On more than one occasion you have said that you are committed to the Israel ’s security and will not tolerate a nuclear-capable Iran . Now it’s your turn to match your words with deeds. A two-state solution with the Palestinian people is of little relevance if Iran achieves its nuclear goals.”

Tea parties, this week, have been a huge success as people across the nation gather in an attempt to be heard. I watched a news clip on television, showing a well-educated black woman who lent her voice to others protesting tax hikes, healthcare reform and the multitude of other negative changes that have been foist upon those who don't agree with the policies of this administration and they way they are achieved.

Unfortunately, this hasn't only become a left and right issue, now it's become about race. If you don't like the policies, you must be a racist. Even black people who dare speak out are being labeled as "Uncle Toms." Let's throw everyone who doesn't agree under the bus.

Why can't people understand. Color is not an issue. When I think of the things I don't like about Mr. Obama, I never see black or white... I see right and wrong, and that's my opinion unless Congress acts again and denies me the right to have onet.

You may think that was a joke, but I fear for our liberties. News yesterday indicated that the National Library of Congress was going to start archiving Tweets. I doubt they will, but clearly, this is but another attempt by the government to flex their muscles and try to scare people into silence. I don't tweet much, but they are welcome to what I have to say. I own my feelings, I stand firm, and I truly believe the time has come for US, the citizens, to be the ones to instigate CHANGE. And this time, let's do it right.

I'm borrowing part of the "Americans for Prosperity" letter I received today. I applaud those who are attending tea parties and gatherings today in a peaceful and determined effort to bring about positive changes. Although I agree with the intent, I'm sure you are well aware of my dislike for left and right finger pointing. The name of this group is "right on." But, as with all political communiques, people have a strange need to draw a line in the sand and pick a side. I'm standing in the middle, hoping others will see that division (picture the word) is what has caused this big f**k up. While those who take are stand are heaped in with terrorists and trouble-makers by the very administration we helped elect, if we don't speak up and vote for change, then by our silence we are agreeing to continue in this same path of destruction. If not for the horrid cold I've developed, I would be at a tea party today. When people voted for the changes Obama promised, I think they should have asked for a little more clarification. His vague promises have turned into very real nightmares. Back door deals and votes for payment are not new, but they need to be stopped. Politicians must cease getting rich at our expense, and if this healthcare reform does indeed become reality, then they get no exemption. I can barely make ends meet now, so the last thing I need is to continue to be taxed more for frivolous and wasted expenditures. Check Nancy Pelosi's financial information and see if we really need to pay for her to fly back and forth to Washington? I don't even like her so it's doubly insulting to me.

This is a very sad story about a bear. Everybody should heed the warning to not feed wildlife because they become dependent and cannot forage for themselves anymore.

This is such a tragedy to see what they've done to our country's wildlife!

This makes great sense to me. If you disagree, then truck on by, but if you see the logic, please act, only takes a minute! The Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan. It took me less than a minute to sign up to agree that our congressmen and senators to drink at the same trough! Three cheers for Congressman John Fleming of Louisiana ! Congressman Fleming ( Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same healthcare plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt). Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and sign his petition. I have immediately done just that at:

Please urge as many people as you can to do the same! If Congress forces this on the American people, the Congress should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families. To do otherwise is the height of hypocrisy!

Is Obama a Post Turtle?

While suturing up a cut on the hand of a 75 year old southerner, whose hand had been caught in the gate while working his cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama, and his being our President.

The old southerner said, "Well, ya’ll know, Obama is just a Post Turtle."

Now not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked, “What's a "Post Turtle?"

The old southerner said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle."

The old southerner saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. “You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he sure as heck ain't goin' anywhere, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place…”

Well, registered, voting dumb asses put him up there, but not because they're stupid. They had blind faith in the promises he made and hoped for a better tomorrow. Instead we're teetering on the brink of ruin, wondering what sort of future is in store for our children. We need to let our angry grow between now and November...remembering the closed door deals, the shady characters appointed to specific posts, the bulging pocket bureaucrats who sit in the senate and congress, making a career and millions out of what was supposed to be a TERM to look after our welfare. Let the bitterness you feel fester, then VOTE the bastards out in November. It's our only way to send a message that we've had enough. If we continue to let the government rule US in favor of ruling FOR us, then we deserve what we get.

Change of Plans

There is too much to do between now and November 2nd in an attempt to restore sight to those who are blindly following the current administration. If we don't exchange information and facts here, then I'm going to feel like I did absolutely nothing if things remain unchanged.

Okay...I can't go. There's just too much to talk about, and obviously we have to share amongst ourselves because Congress isn't interested hearing what the majority has to say. As long as they maintain the majority vote, I think that's all that matters. Our voices don't resonate with $$$.

Some may defend the Pres by saying it was just a natural pose and has no meaning, but personally....I feel like he's sending a message to those he just screwed over, and believes he's put one over on those who don't believe in his socialistic viewpoint.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have shared my viewpoints, laughed at my jokes and respected my right to post them. However, the added stress of following the current administration is more than I can handle at this time. So, I next week, I will be deleting this blog and devoting more time to my writing and my blog which deals with that. I consider the topics here to be of more importance, but here I have seven followers, so the impact I've made is akin to a gnat on an elephant's behind...which by the way, mine is beginning to resemble from spending too much time in this chair. I have new goals, and they include staying off my computer during the day and finding new activities that increase my movement and hopefully improve my health.

Finally some one asked "him" the question on ABC-TV, Monday, October 12, 2009 during the Network special on health care. President Obama was asked:

"Mr. President, will you and your family give up your current health care program and join the new "universal health care program" that the rest of us will be on?"

There was stony silence as Obama ignored the question and failed to answer. A number of senators were asked the same question, and their response was, "We will think about it." And they did. It was later announced that the "Kennedy Health Care Bill" was written into the new health care reform initiative, insuring that congress will be 100% exempt.

If this is true, which I believe it is, then the new health care plan is good enough for you and me, but not the Prez or Congress. What's wrong with this picture? The old saying, "what's good for the goose is good for the gander," comes to mind. Here again, the constitution is being disregarded and that's very wrong. Still, I don't know what we can do to change things except when we get a chance to vote....clean house and start all over.

The Republican Party is made up of real people doing real work, who are often the targets of lawyers.

Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by judicial decisions; we are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once private lives. America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and reasonable, not vast and unchecked. When the most important decision for our next president is whom he will appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big. When lawyers use criminal prosecution as a continuation of politics by other means, as happened in the lynching of Scooter Libby and Tom Delay, then the power of lawyers in America is too great. When House Democrats sue America in order to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.

The United States has 5% of the world's population and 66% of the world's lawyers! Tort (Legal) reform legislation has been introduced in congress several times in the last several years to limit punitive damages in ridiculous lawsuits such as spilling hot coffee on yourself and suing the establishment that sold it to you and also to limit punitive damages in huge medical malpractice lawsuits. This legislation has continually been blocked from even being voted on by the Democratic Party. When you see that 97% of the political contributions from the American Trial Lawyers Association goes to the Democratic Party, then you realize who is responsible for our medical and product costs being so high!

It on my back porch and filled
It with seed. What a beauty of
A bird feeder it was, as I filled it
lovingly with seed. Within a
Week we had hundreds of birds
Taking advantage of the
Continuous flow of free and
Easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
Building nests in the boards
Of the patio, above the table,
And next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was
Everywhere: on the patio tile,
The chairs, the table ..
Everywhere!

Then some of the birds
Turned mean. They would
Dive bomb me and try to
Peck me even though I had
Fed them out of my own
Pocket.

And others birds were
Boisterous and loud. They
Sat on the feeder and
Squawked and screamed at
All hours of the day and night
And demanded that I fill it
When it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
Sit on my own back porch
Anymore. So I took down the
Bird feeder and in three days
The birds were gone. I cleaned
Up their mess and took down
The many nests they had built
All over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
It used to be .... Quiet, serene....
And no one demanding their
Rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.
Our government gives out
Free food, subsidized housing,
Free medical care and free
Education, and allows anyone
Born here to be an automatic
Citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
Tens of thousands. Suddenly
Our taxes went up to pay for
Free services; small apartments
Are housing 5 families; you
Have to wait 6 hours to be seen
By an emergency room doctor;
Your child's second grade class is
Behind other schools because
Over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
Bilingual box; I have to
'press one ' to hear my bank
Talk to me in English, and
People waving flags other
Than 'Old Glory' are
Squawking and screaming
In the streets, demanding
More rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
To take down the bird feeder.

Long Absence

I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted. I've been having some health issues, and dwelling on the depressing state of the union didn't seem like a good idea. I've ignored my blog, but I'm still very much aware of the attempt to mandate our health care. People argue that those of us who fear it are paranoid, but just ask yourself...if Medicare, a government run business, along with Social Security, another government institution, are on the brink of of financial ruin, what makes you think they can smoothly operate health care for the entire nation? Everything they touch turns sour.

Our unemployment rate remains staggering, but has Obama demanded that our U.S. financial institutions return all the outsourced jobs to Americans? No! True, he did mandate new rules governing credit card companies, but during the time he discussed his plans and actually initiated it, all the companies raised everyone's rates to staggering proportions. Now we face new fees to balance the amount of money the credit card companies say they will lose. Some of my interest rates on current accounts with a good payment record went from 14.9% to 29.9%. How fair is that?

Our administration is filled with tax cheats and liars, so why would you believe a thing they have to say? Just asking. And...I'm sharing this because this just might become a reality, and it's very frightening to think the diagnostic tests we've come to rely on for prevention may be denied us. I guess it's more important to explore Space than to cure Cancer. But...if the death rate continues to climb, whose gonna be alive to enjoy space?

Conservative Versus Liberal

If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.

If a conservative is a homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is a homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he turns the channel.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced; unless it's a foreign religion, of course.

If a conservative needs health care, he goes about shopping for it or may choose a job that provides it.

If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs, and is embarrassed..
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor, and then sues.

A conservative may try to persuade you to see his or her point of view,

A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".

I hate to say this, but I agree. Liberals are screaming to shut down Fox news, forcing OBAMA Care on the nation, insisting that God be removed from everything, and my favorite...trying to legislate that everyone respect Homosexuals.

You can't pass laws that force people to accept something they don't understand. Personally, I'm not homophobic, but just as I don't force people to view romantic exchanges between my husband and I, I would prefer not to be subjected to seeing them between same sex couples--or any couples. Take it behind closed doors.

I'm a firm believer that until you walk a mile in someone's shoes, you can't understand what they face. NEVER are we mortals in a position to judge anyone. That's between each individual and his maker. Remember, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Some people should never consider picking up so much as a pebble.

Our whole system has reverted to a war between left and right. Shouldn't laws be based on logic and what's best for all concerned rather than following a party lead? Honestly, name calling, finger pointing...none of that negative behavior does anything more than make our politicians look like the asses they've become. I say this not in judgement, but as someone who listens to the news, watches Fox, where you hear the truth without the sugar coating,and witnesses the reported behavior of elected officials who work harder to pad their own pockets and gain respect with special interest groups than they do for the people who put them in office. So now I ask you...who's the dope! Can't we all just play nice and work to clean up this giant mess we're in?

A Letter to the Citizens

As much as I would love to claim credit for this witty post, I cannot. This was shared in an email post from a friend. Who knows where it came from, but the originator is RIGHT ON!

Dear Citizens,

Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown in the economy, Congress has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early retirement.

This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).

Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to Congress to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).

Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (Scheme Covering Retired-Early Workers).

A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as Congress deems appropriate.

Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).

Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by Congress.

Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Congress has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.

Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this to the attention of your Congressman, who has been trained to give you all the SHIT you can handle.

Who's The Fear Monger?

I watch Glenn Beck whenever I get a chance, and I'm always impressed with his honestly and devotion to the constitution of the United States. He backs up the things he says with proof, and I've never found him to do anything more than urge American citizens to wake up and be aware of what's happening around them. Wise words, in my opinion.

The person I fear most is our president. He acts without regard for the American public, he apologizes on our behalf, he bows before Muslim royalty, and he urges us to follow him blindly when he promised transparency. The only thing transparent about him is his own desire to be in control. And at what cost?

Those who blame Glenn Beck for fear mongering when in truth, he is only bringing the truth to light, need to check themselves. We'd be far better with someone who cares so deeply about our country (Glenn) as president than we are at the moment.

One of the saddest things about the current situation: Obama had a chance to set a great example as the first black president, but he's failed miserably by making himself and us look foolish. As far as the next election...the Republicans and Democrats need to find new blood--someone who doesn't have personal agendas. The same old tired people are waiting in the wings to run, and unless the public does something soon, we'll be in the same boat, just with a different captain.

Today I got an anti-health reform email which included this:

Go to: www.brownforussenate.com and donate every cent you can spare. We can take that 60th vote away from Reid and then health care will never pass. If we do not do this and send the Democrats a real message, we really are screwed. If you live in Massachusetts or even in New Hampshire near the border, volunteer to get the Republican vote out on January 19th.

Haven't we bled enough to fill these people's pockets. When did doing the job you were elected to do require that we donate every cent we can spare? Shouldn't people with good sense be able to see this whole reform bill is a crock and vote what's right?

A well-spoken businessman from Florida was on Fox new this morning. For thirty years, he's been providing top-of-the-line health care for his employees, including staffing his own medical clinic. He's paying $2500 per employee right now and feels it's the "right thing to do, since he can afford it." Under the Obama plan, he would be fined $750.00 per employee for NOT providing the health care, thus saving him EIGHT MILLION dollars to trash his plan and let people flounder. Great! Employees who currently pay more than $750 per employee would be motivated to stop. Right now, my benefits cost my previous employee $770, but after the first of the year, the plan has increased, and my $150 per month is doubling. I'm already being affected by the reform and it hasn't really passed yet.

AND...I have an important question. What is the definition of PROVIDE? Does it mean offer the option or pay for the full benefit?

In Tennessee, few companies offer any health care, and if they do, the employee-paid portion is so expensive, it becomes prohibitive. My husband, if he accepted enrollment, would virtually pay for benefits with little left over for household management. You can see why I ask. I'm sure the $750 fine would provide money to the government to help repay the trillion dollar debt, but how does it benefit Joe America? I suspect if you have health care now, and are happy with it. Since the fine is lower than the premium, more people are going to HAVE to accept Obamacare when their health care is snagged away from them. So much for the promise, you can keep you health care if you like it. Right!!!

Christmas Hiatus

I'm continuing my holiday hiatus. As some of you know, I've been sidelined with illness for the past couple months, so my blogs have been pretty much ignored. However, I couldn't resist one last post before I stop and refocus for the New Year. One I had hoped would be better until I read the following:

So, how's the president's performance working for ya know...those of you who still put your faith and trust in him? What basis do you use? I'd like to know.

As I close now, I share my prayer. Lord bless us all as we head into a New Year. May the star that guided the wise men to the Christ child shine bright enough to show us now the way out of the darkness that consumes us.

Behind The Scenes

I read this past week, from October statistics, that over five million people are on unemployment. This doesn't count anyone who has moved on to receive extensions beyond the limit allowed per person. My dilemma...I don't know whether to be thankful or upset that Congress voted to extend benefits. I think I'll settle for frightened.

Most folks pay into unemployment, but certainly those coffers ran out long ago. Consider only the five million mentioned in the article, and not those receiving extended benefits. Using what my husband received for the weeks he was without work, I'll enter $268.00 per week as a figure to work with. Now multiply this times fifty-two weeks in a year, then multiply that by five million individuals. Where is the government finding the money? And why are we being encouraged by a climbing stock market and rising financial reports? False courage according to U.S. News.com:

So are job losses good for the stock market? Actually, yes. At least for awhile. Stocks are rising because many companies are earning more money than analysts have expected. But earnings aren't up because companies are selling more stuff; most companies are still selling less stuff and grappling with falling revenue. Instead, earnings are rising because companies have cut their costs more than revenues have fallen. And "costs" are often the same as "jobs."

While I honestly am thankful that struggling Americans are finding help when jobs are simply just not there, I wonder how much more the government can pile on to the ever growing debt pile?

We owe our future to China, now the current administration wants to add anyone fifty-five and over to Medicare. I'm over fifty-five, but reports prior to health care reform showed this government-run agency already in financial despair...on the brink of ruin, actually. How is adding millions more bodies to the numbers going to help.

And the basis for reform is high medical costs. Ask any doctor who drove up the costs. The Government. If you've ever researched the ridiculous amounts of money they pay for anything, you might not be so surprised that we're in the mess we're in. Grants to study ridiculous topics, and things like this:

Medicare wastes more money than any other federal program, yet its strong public support leaves lawmakers hesitant to address program efficiencies, which cost taxpayers and Medicare recipients billions of dollars annually.

For example, Medicare pays as much as eight times what other federal agencies pay for the same drugs and medical supplies.[6] The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently compared the prices paid by Medicare and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care program for 16 types of medical equipment and supplies, which account for one-quarter of Medicare’s equipment and supplies purchases. The evidence showed that Medicare paid an average of more than double what the VA paid for the same items. The largest difference was for saline solution, with Medicare paying $8.26 per liter compared to the $1.02 paid by the VA.

Unused Flight Tickets Totaling $100 Million

A recent audit revealed that between 1997 and 2003, the Defense Department purchased and then left unused approximately 270,000 commercial airline tickets at a total cost of $100 million. Even worse, the Pentagon never bothered to get a refund for these fully refundable tickets. The GAO blamed a system that relied on department personnel to notify the travel office when purchased tickets went unused.

The government has been overly generous with money for years and years. The spending frivolity is finally catching up, and it hurts us all.

I urge you, when it's time to vote, clean house. It's time to stop the hemorrhaging and get career politicians out of Congress and the Senate and on the unemployment lines with the rest of America. Let them see how their actions have affected this nation.

Empty Promises

I've been sickly and not the least interested in political things as I already felt miserable enough. I want to thank my friend who continues to provide me with fodder to share during the moments when my brain doesn't work on it's on. I won't name her, but she knows who she is and how much she's appreciated. :) This is by far one of the best comparisons I've seen.

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM--From a teacher in the Nashville area

"We are worried about 'the cow' when it is all about the 'Ice Cream.'

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year...

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place.

He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.

She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down.

The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!

We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?

She wasn't sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.

She didn't know.

The class really didn't care.

All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine-year-olds.

They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

This is the ice cream Obama promised us!

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone that they have not first taken away from someone else.

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I see some ugly evidence of what continues to drive our country into poverty.

Why are we bailing out financial institutions who have outsourced all their customer service jobs abroad? Bank of AMERICA and many of the other larger conglomerats have sent thousandss and thousands of job overseas, denying all those here without jobs a fair opportuniy for employment, yet we're worried about them succeeding? Ever wonder why when you call for help you can't understand the person on the other end? It's because you're probably speaking to someone in India or Pakistan. Great isn't it? What kind of government continues to allow this?

And which industry continues to be pounded by the failing economy. Think about it..everytime a business, big or small, closes their doors, moves abroad, or falls to bankruptcy, who takes a hit along with them? Truckers. Who got scalped the most when fuel prices soared. Truckers again. Which of course is ridiculous because diesel is a gasoline by-product and has always been cheaper. But all those trucks you curse on the freeway are the very people who deliver the goods you need everyday. From toothpaste to toilet paper to food, and all those things your order on-line. Each time they lose a contract, they are forced to raise their prices in order to stay in business, which in turn raises the price of the goods they deliver. In the end, we take a pounding along with them.

Just somethings I thought of when I couldn't sleep tonight. That and the Female Senator who took $300 million dollars to vote for Obamacare. When will the corruption, greed, and stupidty end?

Or will it ever?

Healthcare Reform

I'm so confused by all the BS being reported, denied, and shared on the news about Healthcare that I feel like shooting something or someone. I'm fearful about the reported changes in in PAP smear and Mammogram eligibility and the gap between testing. How many women will die because of this?

I'm angered over the Senator I just learned took a $300 million dollar bribe to vote in favor of healthcare reform. And even more pissed that the government is soliciting donations to help defray the escalating deficit.

What has gone wrong with this country? We're bringing terrorist to our shores to try them with constitutional rights and attorneys who will plead their cases for them despite the fact they've already admitted to their crimes. They're war criminals, and the fact that we've given H1N1 vaccine to Gitmo detainees and other inmates when I myself haven't been able to get a dose makes me madder than you can imagine.

But...in this time of such confusion, I decided to solicit a few friends from aboard who partake of Government run or shared healthcare for their opinions. Actually, these responses I received were uplifting and made me feel not quite so helpless, although my own healthcare benefit is doubling in 2010, I would still rather be the boss of my own destiny.

Testimonies:

I'm from Germany, as you all know, and we have universal health care. It's a mix of government/private insurance (actually mostly government regulated private insurance). It was a total shock for me to come here to the US and not be able to afford/get health care. I have it now finally that I'm full time after 20 years of being adjunct faculty without benefits, but many things that I should have taken care of I couldn't, and I'll pay the price for that in the future, or actually right now. You should see me limp on my bad ankles.... At least I was lucky enough so far not to require any serious procedures.... Haven't been to a doctor in over ten years....

In Germany, dental and vision is included (I need new glasses!!!). The way it works is that everybody gets a certain basic level of health care that is heavy on preventative care (for example, massages are paid for by health care - they prevent a lot of unnecessary back surgeries...). In other words, you are encouraged to get regular check-ups, etc. Leads to less catastrophic care and peace of mind. If you want to, you can buy more expensive private plans on top of that. My parents did that and reap the benefits now - my mother has major health issues and has spent quite a while in the hospital. She now needs in-home care, and a health worker visits her twice a day to help with whatever she needs from rewrapping bandages to personal hygiene. If they didn't have both the basic and the private level of health care, they'd be bankrupt. They still have to contribute something to the most expensive stuff (my mother got some experimental foot surgery), but it's nothing they can't afford.

If you work, your basic insurance contribution is taken directly out of your paycheck, just like taxes/social security benefits. You don't miss it, I found, just like I don't miss my regular stuff taken out of my paycheck here. If you're unemployed, it's part of your unemployment benefits - no fear like here that if you lose your job you will be left without insurance. So many people here (and in Germany) don't lose their jobs in this economy because they're lazy bums, so how do they deserve to be all of a sudden without any recourse if they're ill? There's no cap on the services, and pre-existing conditions can't exclude you. Neither can the insurances kick you out if you get sick - my mom would be in dire straits in the US.

The argument in Germany is that we're all in this together, and that no person should go bankrupt or die for want of basic health care. Doesn't matter whether you're a native or an immigrant either; after all, they work, so they can get health care. Hey, even prostitutes get it *grin*. The argument is that catastrophic health care (which cannot be denied - you can't let people croak on the emergency room stairs, after all, right? Hippocratic oath and all...) is beaucoup more expensive than decent basic care for all. Call it socialism, or whatever - give me socialism then.... Besides, what about Christian charity???

Read an interesting article about that not long since - the idea that the collective well-being is considered important in Europe, whereas rugged individualism is more treasured in the US, which leads to everybody being left to fend for him/herself - the motto is: I worked for it, it's mine. You want it, work for it yourself. I'm not paying for you. It's a philosophical difference. But universal health care is also better for the labor market - a healthy workforce is better for the economy than one that's always taking time off for preventable illnesses....

Now I'm not saying everything's perfect in good old Germany (not all hospitals/doctors are equally good - but neither are they here -, and Germany has its share of snafus), but the old canard about everybody having to wait forever to see a specialist or stuff like that is plain wrong. If you need emergency treatment, you get that. If you don't, then you're behind the ones who came in before you. Not a problem in my eyes. Also the claim that older people don't get treated, or that health care is rationed: what is it here??? Rationed by who can afford what. If you want all the bells and whistles, you have to pay for it, both in Germany and here. That's the same everywhere. Example: basic health care will get you a hospital room, but not a private room. You'll share it with others. If you want a private room, you pay for it - privately, with extra insurance or cash. That's what my mother got with the extra coverage - but my parents have paid into the system for a long time now, and now they get it back in spades.

The fear here that government controlled health care would lead to the extinction of private insurance is manifestly false in Germany (and even in England, which is often cited as a model here in the US). Private insurance does just fine, but is compelled to play by the rules. That is what the for profit insurance companies here fear the most.... My roomie was an attorney for years for an insurance company, and they're in the business to take your money, not to give it back to you, according to her. Honestly, when it comes to the choice of a government or a private insurance bureaucrat to take care of my health decisions, I'd rather have the government one - he/she is not motivated by profit.... And incompetence exists everywhere....

Give you another example: the swine flu crisis. Here distribution of the vaccine is problematic, people wait in lines, can't get it, tempers flare. You see it in the news all the time. In Germany, everybody is in the system. So people in the high risk groups get notified by mail when to come in for a vaccination (by appointment). No lines, no confusion. Pregnant women, people with pre-existing conditions, health care workers, and children first. No preference by company, money, whatever. Unified/shared medical records make that possible. Again, doesn't always work perfectly (even in the case of my mother, who has the bells/whistles private supplemental insurance, not all records arrived where they needed to be in all cases), but still, much better than the opposite.

What amuses me the most is to see the protesters against government sponsored health care: mostly middle-aged to older people, many of whom are on Medicare (government health care) and don't want anybody to touch it, much less take it away....

Honestly, can't really give you any cons against government sponsored health care - always worked ok for me. I don't expect perfection, after all. And it certainly worked for my parents. I like the peace of mind it gives you - you know that you'll get treated if something goes wrong. Got kicked by a horse in Germany in my university days. Had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, and had to stay for a week. I never even saw a bill. I wasn't asked before I was treated who was paying for this. Now that's peace of mind. My only thought here has been not get ill - though I suppose I'm judgement proof. Paid for stitches twice out of my own pocket in small payments (broke grad student), and it took forever. Consider the fact that the US pays more per capita in health care than any other civilized (whatever that means *grin*) in the world, but gets less for it than other countries and leaves so many millions uncovered.

My roomie is now a bankruptcy trustee, and what she sees, how many people lose everything because of medical bills, is heartbreaking. That shouldn't happen, esp. not to older people who have worked all their lives.

Oh, well, I could go on for a long time. Let me know if you want more info. I can get more specific. But you probably get the idea. Like most Europeans, I don't understand why Americans can't get it together on health care and cover everybody. Quote me if you want to - nothing to hide :-)

Australia is a lot like Germany, same sort of system.
One difference is that here you must pay for the use of Ambulances, unless you're on a senior's pension or unemployed. You can pay $100 a year Ambulance cover and that' s all you pay no matter how many times you call one.
The Australian government healthcare system isn't perfect, but it is better than many other countries and I'm grateful for it. I'm not in a private health insurance, and haven't missed it. I've had three babies and my kids have broken bones, etc, and we've all been seen to and never had a problem. Josh has been to ER/had hospital stays 13 times in 15 years and we've never had to pay for it. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

As a most recent recipient of the UK's NHS, I cannot praise it highly
enough.

tests - cholesterol, resting ECG, reaction to sprays etc, she sent me to my
local hospital for a treadmill ECG which alarmed them enough to book me in
for an angiogram on 30th June at another hospital. Went in, had that, saw
the results on tv screen, appreciated what alarmed them and was told I neede
bypass surgery. All this relayed to my GP, and to the Freeman surgeons
(centre of excellence for heart surgery on Tyneside). Saw the consultant on
7th August who told me what they would do (if I agreed) and said I would be
called within 18 weeks. I waited, was called, had that date cancelled
because patients were not moving as quickly as expected out of Intensive
Care (they were elderly, and slow to recuperate) but in I went on 30th for
pre-assessment tests (lung function, ECG and X-ray plus checks for MRSA etc
etc) Into the ward on 1st Nov, op next day, out on 7th and home. In two days
the District Nurse was on the phone wanting to visit, and the Cardiac
Rehabilitation Centre sent me an invitation to join them on a date in
December. All this has been relayed to my own GP and I sit here typing this,
recuperating nicely six months later and I shall see the consultant in a
fortnight's time for checks and to be signed off, given the green light.
Every step of the way has been explained to me by the most friendly people,
I don't expect to see a bill and if I have any queries or questions, however
small, I have a number to ring and get immediate attention. Counselling is
available if I need it (I don't think so, but evidently some people feel
they do need it) and extra help with physiotherapy or just simply managing
on a day to day basis if I have problems. What's not to like?
The media focusses only on the downside and gives the NHS a bad name. People
complain that the have to pay to park their car in hospital car parks, or
that they can't have the most expensive drugs to keep them alive. Bill used
the bus to visit me some of the time. Someone complained that they had to
pay to use the tv in the ward, but really, you don't need a tv to get
better. A tv, in my view, is a luxury, and the money is better spent on
medication. As for the cancer drugs, so expensive, is it better to keep one
person alive for three months or do 30 hip transplants with that money?
The money to pay for all this has been taken out of my salary over my
working life, and I don't, and never have, begrudged it. It's a good system,
which I haven't really had to use until now. But when I need it, it is
there. And no one ever knows when they or their nearest and dearest, will
need it.

As a Canadian, I love my universal health care. I can't imagine having an insurance company between me and my doctor deciding what treatment I can have and what I can't. That offends me terribly. I never have to think of money for a doctor's office visit or for a hospital stay or for a treatment. We simply go, talk to the doc and come out without any financial worry. Everybody knows that it's always best to eliminate the middle man whenever possible.

How can anybody love having insurance companies when they refuse to cover you if you're sick, or dump you when you're sick. No one loses their homes here in Canada if they get sick with cancer.

I've always had great health care - immediate, timely, great. Most recently I had 3 doctor visits in one month because I broke out in shingles. I was put on 4 prescriptions which cost a total of $34.00 and which I can get my money back on the private portion of my health care or I can use it as a tax deduction.

Elective surgeries in Canada may be delayed up to one year, but that's because of a doctor and equipment shortages. Many of our doctors move to the U.S. because they can make more money there in the private system, not that $200,000 per year here in Canada is much to scoff at.

The only private health care we have is for dental, vision, and prescriptions, ambulances, and for private rooms during a hospital stay. My company paid for this while I was working. Now that I've retired, I continued with it for my entire family at $168 per month. My husband has diabetes and a heart condition which requires regular medicine. I wear glasses now and we can get most of our dental work paid wkith that $168 per month.

Since I posted yesterday, my nephew did a little more research on the most recent picture of President Obama standing before a huge American flag. Supposedly, this was taking on Veteran's Day and the flag was passing by, but in reality, Taps was just beginning to play and he had not yet moved his hand to his heart. He did, probably the instant after the pictures was taken. So, the President did pay homage to his country and presented a very touching speech. I saw the video myself, so I can attest that what was shared by some was very misrepresenting. I want to correct my part in that.

But, while I have your attention, I do have a question to ask though. Does anyone else think it strange that up until President Obama was elected, Osama Bin Laden's name was spelled with an "O". Now he has become known as Usuma Bin Laden. Just sort of seemed a little weird. That and my computer spellcheck keepss trying to make me change Obama to Osama. *smile. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I rant and rave all the time about Obama, and wonder why so many people don't see the harm he's doing. And Nancy Pelosi...the woman sickens me. These are someone else's words, but the posteer read my mind:

Ok, moi? An Obama supporter???? (Hold on, I'm choking!) Honestly, the man scares me. I don't think he knows what the hell he is doing. And between that communist bastard Van Jones, corrupt Acorn and the other 'suspicious' characters he surrounds himself with at the WH -- all of whom were not veted or investigated -- I don't trust the people around him either. Either he is a complete idiot who believes everything these people tell him (probably prefaced by 'pseudo-messianic' flattering and stroking his arrogant ego) or he's a psychotic megalomaniac mastermind intent on world domination. Hopefully, he is neither or, at best, somewhere in between. For me the only thing believable about him is that I DO believe he loves his children and cares about their future which (I'm hoping) will help ALL our childrens' future as well.

In my opinion (and I think it's now being shared by many in both parties) he is trying to change the very foundations of this country in order to pursue his own agenda, shove programs and socialist ideology quickly down the throats of Americans without more thorough study, full disclosure or honest dialogue. When questioned, it's always the same rhetoric he said during his campaign.

Which brings me to another point! I don't trust anyone who cannot look you in the eye and speak openly and honestly from the heart. Watch him the next time he gives a speech. He looks left, right -- left, right....never straying too far from the scripted speech. Remember when he read the Irish Prime Minister's speech off the teleprompter, thanking HIMSELF (the President of the US) for inviting him to the White House???? And this is not the first time he's done this! The fact he has to have a teleprompter constantly, including at 'press conferences' where questions are NOT chosen randomly from the audience (as other presidents did) but pre-screened so he has a ready answer is a perfect example of him and his administration manipulating the press and media to suit his agenda, and NOT addressing the concerns of the people that a conscientious journalist might ask. Then again, the government now owns GE, who owns NBC and MNBC, -- so I guess no one wants to offend the major stockholder! And I really resent the fact that any citizen who questions him or doubts his experience or judgment is a racist. Sorry, I am NOT a racist and I think it's a cheap shot to keep playing that card.

My sainted Texan great-grandmother would probably compare him to a carpetbagger -- the 'fancy dressed' men who came to the south after the Civil War seeking power and success, primarily through corruption. My mom would call a flim-flam man -- deceptive, dishonest and willing to lie, cheat and swindle anyone to get what he wants. Me? I call him a snake oil salesman.

Still, when he was inaugurated, I prayed he would keep be a good president. Then I saw how the expenses for his inauguration, including the excessive GALA balls he said would not be at HIS inauguration in light of the economy and how people were suffering, were tripled what others presidents spent. Just two weeks earlier, Alcoa had laid over over 15,000 people and let's face it people were losing homes, being laid off, and no one was hiring.

I thought about how he told us all to not go to Vegas or take vacations (as if we could afford them); his solution to put air in our tires to save on gas and help the environment. Meanwhile, he goes on unprecedented vacations to the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, and New England with the wife and kids (all at taxpayer expense), not to mention their worldwide tour with the kiddies. Gee, let me run out and check my air pressure and worry about GAS prices! That's okay, Mr. President, take AF One and gallivant around the freaking world!!!!

Oh, and remember when Michelle said she was a bargain shopper and did not see the need to buy high-priced designer fashion???? Uh-huh. Gee, those $540.00 Lanvin sneakers she wore while doing a photo op at a food bank were so sensitive to the suffering of the homeless coming in there. When questioned about the 'fashionista' FRENCH sneakers, her assistant said she wears them to 'walk the dog'. Michelle's response? "They're just shoes." Uh-huh!!! OR, what about the $1,500 pumps and $1,000 tank top she wore when planting a tree a week later. And these are the two people who say WE are spoiled and need to cut back on OUR luxuries?????

CLEARLY, what these two say and what they do are at polar opposites. Well, I mean, I did have a glimmer of that during the election with his "uncle like" preacher saying "God Damn America", his criminal bomber friend, the felony charged slum lord who bought the lot next to his house and sold it for him for NOTHING -- and his association with that corrupt outfit Acorn -- the same outfit that is now being investigated by the IRS and scrutinized by the Senate -- FINALLY!

To be fair --- he does seem to be a good father -- so I guess he's not ALL bad. I'm still praying for the country, but I honestly do not trust this man and with his worshiping cult-like supporters having control of the House and Senate, I am terrified for this country and the possibly irreparable damage they are doing -- not to mention my concerns for our national security and the brave men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan who (let's face it) do NOT have a REAL Commander In Chief at the moment. Sorry, I cannot forget or possibly understand his 'priorities' when instead of meeting with the military and generals on critical issues regarding Iran, Irag, Afghanistan, etc. -- HE went to fricking Copenhagen to join Michelle and her retinue of staff to campaign for the Olympics in Chicago. At the same time, Gen. McChrystal (US Commander in Afghanistan) had just said he had never met the President and had not spoken with him in 70 days (OVER TWO MONTHS!!!???) about the war, etc.

The US Ambassador for the UN said the 'lack of communication with the general was indicative of Mr. Obama's misplaced priorities." You think????? I might add ONLY AFTER this information about lack of communication with the general was made public did Obama's people (roughly 48 hrs later) summon McChrystal to fly in for a 25-minute meeting face-to-face while AIR FORCE ONE was still on the tarmac in Copenhagen.

So, yeah, I am VERY concerned about the security in this country and especially his comprehension of the risk factor involved with the whole Iraq and Afghanistan situation, not to mention Iran making nuclear weapons.

And do NOT get me started on Nancy Pelosi because -- honestly -- I cannot stand that witch!!!!! She reminds me of some freaking wax work demon.

WASHINGTON (AP) - After months spent criticizing Democrats' health overhaul plans, House Republicans have produced a draft proposal of their own. It's much shorter and focuses on bringing down costs rather than extending coverage to nearly all Americans.

A 230-page draft was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press. A spokeswoman for Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said changes were still being made before the bill would be finalized in time to offer as an alternative when Democrats begin floor debate on their bill, possibly at the end of this week.

The bill leaves out a number of the key features of the Democrats' 1,990-page legislation, such as new requirements for employers to insure their employees and for nearly all Americans to purchase insurance. It also doesn't block insurers from denying coverage to people with pre-existing health conditions, as Democrats would do.

Instead, the Republican plan increases incentives for people to use health savings accounts, caps non-economic jury awards in medical malpractice cases at $250,000, provides various incentives to states with the aim of driving down premium costs and allows health insurance to be sold across state lines.

"As Leader Boehner has made clear, our proposal will focus on the No. 1 concern of the American people—reducing health care costs, and we do it at a price tag our nation can afford," said spokeswoman Antonia Ferrier, though Republicans have not said how much their bill would cost.

"Our proposal will help struggling middle-class families and small businesses by increasing access to affordable, high-quality health care," Ferrier said.

Democrats immediately dismissed the Republican plan as insubstantial.

The GOP alternative "does little to provide security and stability to all Americans, doesn't provide insurance availability for all Americans, does little to expand access to coverage," House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told reporters.

"Ours is vastly superior and we think the American public will think that," Hoyer said.

The GOP draft bill obtained by The AP was dated Monday.

House Democrats, meanwhile, were working overtime to put the finishing touches on their 10-year, $1.2 trillion bill, which they released last week. Leaders were trying to resolve lingering concerns over language to bar federal funding of abortions and ensure that illegal immigrants don't receive government health benefits.

The Republican bill includes a permanent ban on any federal funding for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or threat to the life of the mother, stronger language than the Democratic bill,

Hoyer predicted Tuesday that Democrats would vote within the week to pass President Barack Obama's historic health care remake.

"I'm confident of prevailing and I'm confident of prevailing before Veterans Day"—next Wednesday, Nov. 11, Hoyer told reporters. "I am confident that we are going to pass this bill."

Across the Capitol, senators are waiting to see the final language and price tag on a health bill that Majority Leader Harry Reid and a few other top officials wrote in secret. It's not clear when those details will be available and Reid, D-Nev., may not be able to begin debate on the issue until the week before Thanksgiving.

Too Much Sense to be Implemented

Number one: let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines;

Number two: allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do today;

Number three: give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs; and

Number four: end junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.

“These are four smart, fiscally-responsible reforms that we can implement today to lower costs and expand access at a price our nation can afford. Again, you can learn more about these and all the health care initiatives Republicans have supported by visiting healthcare.gop.gov.

These suggestions come from House GOP Leader, John Boehner, in an attempt to make known to Congress what the GOP backs, and what a large number of Americans want. As I've pointed out, people see the word, "free" and react, but what they don't see are the long lines and diminished care that comes with the reform being pushed down our throats. The DEM administration is not reforming anything, rather adding more to an already broken medical care program. Ask people in countries where the government provides their medical care and see how they really feel: poor service, long lines, waiting for critical surgeries. These are just a few of the complaints I've heard from personal friends abroad. Nothing in life is free, there is a cost hidden somewhere, but to what end?

This particular paragraph caught my eye while reading about what is being called, "The Worst Bill Ever." Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed.

Yet at this point, Democrats have dumped any pretense of genuine bipartisan "reform" and moved into the realm of pure power politics as they race against the unpopularity of their own agenda. The goal is to ram through whatever income-redistribution scheme they can claim to be "universal coverage." The result will be destructive on every level—for the health-care system, for the country's fiscal condition, and ultimately for American freedom and prosperity.

When The Prez Travels

Happy November!

I touched on a subject yesterday that is a sore spot for me, and I wanted to expand on it today since I have since garnered more information.

My bitch is the President spending tax payer bucks to campaign for his own party candidates in looming elections. Obama isn't the only one to do this, although he's firing up Air Force One again today to return to New Jersey to campaign for the trailing DEM there. Obama is the President of the United States, not President of the Democratic Party. He is charged to represent ALL of us, and I am insulted to have tax dollars collected from those from all political walks of life used for his traveling whims.

Did you know that his visits not only require the use of AF One, three other support jets (Gulfstream V) must be sent out to surrounding airports to allow him an "avenue of escape" should it become necessary. These jets carry a crew of at least twenty-five secret service personnel.

His limousines and additional secret service vehicles (only two that are bulletproof) must be sent via a C-5 Galaxy aircraft from Dover, Pope or Charleston AFBs including another extensive crew. I would assume his comfortable accommodations are also levied against the wallet of the taxpayers.

Am I wrong to believe the President should stay out of these races and allow the public to vote their conscience and the qualifications of the candidates and not be swayed by his position? Even if he paid the expenses himself, which I'm sure he can't afford on his salary, I think it's very wrong for him to use his political position in this manner. I'm just saying...

Watch Your Wallet

I don't get it. Why are politicians so dim that they can't see the forest for the trees? The new "Healthcare Reform Bill," almost 2000 pages was introduced by Pelosi today and she wants a vote by this time next week. HOW ABOUT READING THE DAMN THING! Why is the current administration hell bent to rush through something that so obviously to some is bound to fail. You cannot continue to tax the rich to pay for the poor, or the rich will eventually leave as they are in New York...by the droves. When they go, they take their innovative and prosperous businesses with them, thus increasing unemployment and marking failure of this bill which should in reality be called a TAX bill since it just heaps more onto some already broken medical programs that are government run.

Government intervention in anything doesn't work!!! Think about where you experience long lines, sour people, and extreme waits: DMV, post office, social services...

As reported on Fox new business this morning, each car sold under the Cash for Clunkers program cost tax payers over twenty-thousand dollars. Most who bought were not in need of a new automobile, but drive by the incentive program and would have purchased one in the near future anyhow. Those who drive the real "clunkers" are living on unemployment, facing foreclosuree and couldn't afford to create a car payment. So who did this really help?

Ask the dealers who are still waiting for their payments if they think it was a good program? Obama keeps bragging about jobs created, but he refuses to acknowledge and more and more are lost daily. Even with my increasing health benefit, I would much rather continue to pay and KEEP the government out of my business.

I'm sick and tired of those with a "gimme, gimme" attitude. People see "FREE" and think there is no long-term cost involved. TAXES people...you'll pay in the long run, or so well-known and experienced economists predict. I believe them over dimwits in Washington who know nothing about finances who continue to overburden and future generations with little or no regard. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know Timothy Geithner has a degree...well, he couldn't even "remember" to pay his own taxes, so what does that tell you? T

Reform is a good thing, but take time and FIX the problem...don't just scotch tape it together and sell it as new and improved.

By the way, it you watched Sixty-Minutes on Sunday night, you must have been just as amazed as me at the man who so easily bilked Medicare out of over twenty million dollars and told people exactly how he did it. He was never questioned, but just paid for his fradulent claims. The government would never have known had the people involved in the scam noticed the erroneous charges on their Explanation of Benefits.

I know I may have mentioned this before, but my sister worked for a Hospice in Southern California as the Quality Control Person. When she discovered that home visits to dying people were not being made as reported, medications not given but charges submitted, she mailed, at her own expense, copies of documentation as proof, to at least a half dozen programs involved with Medicare. NOT one responded, and when she pressed, she was told unless the claim amounted to millions, they weren't interested. Is this how you want you tax dollars spent? Think about it, and speak up or forever slap yourself for being uninformed and stupidly believing the BS that's been fed to you by the current administration. Vote the bums out!!!

Oh yeah...one more burr in my side. In this day and age when people are facing the end of their unemployment benefits, still haven't found a job, can't afford to relocate and hope one is elsewhere...how can the President, in clear conscience, still fire up AF One and fly to New Jersey and Virginia to campaign for the Democratic governmors there? How much does that cost the tax payers? And how about equal representation??? What does his negating the importance of the other candidates because of their "party affiliation" contribute to equality? Further proof we need to obliterate party lines and be ONE!!!!!

Maybe this picture DID mean something. There were plenty of excuses for why Mr. Obama looked like someone with no respect for our flag or anthem, but he got elected and people still follow and believe in him. Picture me with a big question mark over my head, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he's a democrat. I could give a crap about that!

I have NO party affiliation. As I've said, I vote for A man, not THE logo he flies, and I believe everyone should do the same. Party division is the reason for finger-pointing and blame, and right now I would have a problem realizing pride in either the Democrats or the Republicans. Both are equally guilty of spinning their wheels on important issues while they occupy their time coming up for reasons to cast aspersions on the "other side."

There shouldn't be an "other side." Case in point, I offer the following to those who still like to blame George W. Bush for everything that is happening now. Sure, the man had his faults, but we have a Congress made up of both sides, so where is their blame. I'm sick of hearing it's the Democrat's fault...no it's the GOP. NO!!!! It's our fault for not speaking up and taking back control of a government that is clearly failing!

Dizzing Progression

I find great consolation in finding supportive comments on my blog, and I thank those few who follow and continue to read what I have to day.

Like Elizabeth who commented yesterday, I feel the gray blanket of doom descending on us. How much more can we take? The jobless rate keeps climbing, and although bailout money was supposed to create jobs, unless you are a highway worker or heavy equipment operator, there still isn't anything out there for the common folk. Have you noticed, like I have, that those pimply-faced kids working in Taco Bell and Burger King have been replaced with much older folk?

Watching the news has become unbearable. The ridiculousness I see reported makes me scratch my head and wonder how so many can still support the fruitless endeavors of a president who honestly doesn't have a clue. Men and women are dying in Afghanistan, and he doesn't have a plan despite his hand-picked General issuing an urgent request for more troops. Have we abandoned those there? I'd rather see the money spent on that space shuttle yesterday put into bunker bombs and sent to Afghanistan to blow up all those mountain ranges where the Taliban hides. UPS can track a package across the nation, know where it is at a moment's notice, but our entire military compilation and CIA can't find Bin Laden. Strange!

Clearly the bailout didn't work. I agree with my sister. If that money had been split and sent to each household across the US, we would already have witnessed an improvement. People would have been able to make their house payments buy cars, pay bills, shop, eat out, invest...but I guess that made too much sense.

What makes me angriest is that instead of concentrating efforts on the needs of his constituency, he traipses all over the country, to places like Virginia where he urgently needed to campaign for the democratic candidate who is losing there. These non-essential trips he makes cost us money to fire up that jet and enlist his secret service corp. And, I think we needed money more than the Palestinians and Pakistanis. Don't you? Oh, I could rant all day, but it just makes my blood pressure rise.

California - Bah!!!!

I'm pissed. I was born and raised in California and waited until I was eligible for the senior meal at Denny's to leave the state. California is a true example of how politicians have lost sight of their goals. Shouldn't someone have noticed the money problems long before they became so serious? Where was the treasurer...the oversight? Just as our federal government is operating, too many people are padding their own pockets, looking the other way while corruption blossoms, and seeing their mission as increasing their own wealth.

So, how does this affect me, you ask, since I'm no longer a resident? I worked for over twenty years for a major university there. I recently received my "benefit package for 2010," and I knew when the accompanying letter started with rambling rhetoric about the state of the economy and need for increased revenues, I was in deep doo doo. Blah blah blah!

Of course, retiree benefits are always good places to cut or eliminate, and I'm appalled that the health care I have...and the only one for which I am eligible since I'm out-of-state (Anthem Blue Cross) is more than doubling their yearly premium. Last year I paid $156 and effective January 1, I'll be required to pay over $300 if I want to keep my policy in force. Once I hit sixty-five, it will reduce substantially since I will then become a Medicare victim, but in lieu of my whopping ten percent COLA and no increase in my social security benefits, I wonder how I'll afford it. I can't live without it, and I certainly don't want NOBAMA and his Congress handling my health issues.

I don't know if I'm angrier about the increase or the fact that because my life circumstances have required me to relocate, I'm being unduly punished by not having a choice as those in California do. This is a great example of how buying insurance across state lines would make health insurance more competitive and most likely, lower rates.

Government tends to F**k everything up these days. Have you noticed? What do you expect when people like Keith Olbermann continue to rave about what a wonderful job Washington is doing. Pah-lease! Don't get me started on that moron.

"Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn't absolutely control," said Dunn.

"One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters," said Dunn, referring to Plouffe, who was Obama's chief campaign manager.

"We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it," Dunn said.

Continued Dunn: "Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it, what the tactic was. … Making the press cover what we were saying." Dunn was speaking at a Jan. 12, 2009, event focusing on Obama's media tactics and hosted by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, which seeks to promote collaboration between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. The event was held in Santo Domingo and was attended by the country's president.

Dunn has been facing some criticism since she led a White House campaign last week against Fox News, slamming the top-rated network as an "arm of the Republican Party" and "opinion journalism masquerading as news."

Fox hit back this past Friday, releasing a video of Dunn speaking to high school students last June in which she lists her two "favorite political philosophers," including Communist Chinese leader Mao Tse-tung, whose draconian policies are blamed for the deaths of tens of millions of people.

Since I babysat all week, I missed watching the news and posting here. I was totally immersed in old episodes of Star Wars with my grandson, who sees them a new and exciting. I must say, I don't recall Harrison Ford looking so sexy! OMG...but then I digress.

I returned to the computer and read all the posts, went to Facebook and perused the notices people left, and I had to stop and wonder...doesn't anyone care or realize the issues of real importance?

Sure...I want to sell my books as much as anyone, but I'm having a hard time begging someone to spend $5.95 for a download when Seniors aren't getting a COLA for the first time in ages because according to whoever decides these things...the cost of living didn't rise. ON WHAT PLANET???? Hell, the cost of gasoline here went up sixteen cents in two days this week, and Walmart prices have risen so much I don't shop there anymore.

The President has decided, after the uproar, to give each senior citizen $250.00. That averages out to $1.46 a day, and that won't even buy a gallon of gasoline. I guess we should be thankful, but then someone on Fox pointed out that we already have a national debt in the trillions and the President just keeps coming up with new ways to spend money we don't have.

Hey...remember the millions NObama gave to the Palestinians to repair damage done by Israel in their retaliation against the constant lobbing of bombs into their backyard? That would come in pretty handy right now. I believe in charity, but doesn't it start at home? That's what the saying is, I think.

I saw a perfect sign on the internet. "Stop apologizing FOR America and apologize TO America." Right now the Prez and his VP are stomping around the "blue" states and trying to rebuild their lost popularity. Imagine how much it costs to fire up Air Force One for all his jaunts around the world. If he just stayed HOME and and saved on that expense, he could save taxpayers a ton...maybe even discuss the importance of reading bills before they're signed. I can't believe that's even an issue, but it is. Hey...the Dems are FOR it...sign...Nah, the GOP likes it, let's trash it. Get rid of party lines America. Let's all work together instead of against each other.

As for health reform...why doesn't the government pay attention to the polls. Health reform places last on the concern meter. Unemployment is the real emergency. I may be stupid...and probably am, but I really can't understand why there is an urgency to shove this plan down America's throat in such a hurry. Why not fix Medicare, Medicaid and the Veteran's Administration...find the corrupt people taking advantage and enhance oversight. Add another program to help those who don't have insurance, but stop trying to control the doctors and medicine. AND why, I ask, would the bill mandate that everyone who doesn't have insurance PURCHASE it or be fined. If they had the money, don't you think they would already have done that? Okay...you argue, some people sit back and want something for nothing. Well, there's a good example of punishing the masses for the sins of a few. Oversight!!!! Learn the word Congress and appoint people to follow up on the programs now in place. FIX THEM and leave the rest of us alone.

Okay...I'm on a rant. I want to be able to promote my books and not have this blog, but I fear things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better...if they do. Too many people still have their heads in the sand and avoid the unpleasant topic of politics. Well folks...like it or not, your world revolves around politics, and right now the current administration is spinning out of control.

I found this quiz through my following of the Blog, Wake Up America. I totally agree with the site's title... Wake Up America. Those who follow the current administration blindly are ME a few years ago. I watched only network news and considered I was informed. WRONG. I knew very little about what went on behind the scenes, and never realized I was being force-fed approved newscasts and denied the facts important to all of us. Fox news has changed my outlook and made me more aware and informed about our world and what happens each and every day. If you watch only network news, you might know how many people have been murdered in your city or area, the weather, the road conditions and see a brief skim of the political arena, but you're missing the big picture. This is OUR government, and if you don't WAKE UP AMERICA, you don't have a right to complain...nor do you have a right to judge my opinions until you have ALL the facts.

It's easy, smeasy, lemon squeezy to get your very own Nobel Peace Prize. Since the stardards have recently been lowered, all you need do is visit and declare your party affiliation. Of course, Democrats are favored with "Other" coming in a close second, so if you check Republican, don't be surprised if you are in the loser category. As an "Other" I was surprised to squeak by in the voting. Wow...imagine me, a Nobel Peace Prize Winner...and just like President Obama, I did absolutely nothing to deserve it.

P.S. I forgot to add...unlike the "real" award, this one comes with no monetary stipend. You don't get a trip to Oslo to accept it, but there is a link if you wish to book a cruise yourself. :)

You might want to go by and leave a comment of your own. This man is a crook and people just keep letting him get away with it. Why? Does he have to murder someone? Like I said in my comment, I'm thinking it's time he checks into Hotel Arpaio in Arizona and dawns a pair of pink undies.

Nobel Peace Prize - Picture me Stunned.

So, President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. I suppose congratulations are in order, but I for one, am stunned. His apology to the Muslims and other European nations on behalf of Americans, must have paid off. But when France announces they believe our leader has no spine and other nations have no respect for him, how could he even have been in the running? Maybe it's because Khadaffi stated he thinks Obama should be president forever. There's an edorsement from a stable person we should all heed. *lol*

I don't think Israel is all that impressed with his efforts to support them as they've supported us for years...and I'm not talking money. Honestly, I can't imagine he would be honored for a Peace prize by having no plan or strategy in the Aghan war, and by his hesistancy to make a decision, more of our troops have been killed because of the lack of support (more man/woman power and equipment.)

While he might receive recognition in the form of this award for making strides for world peace...eivdently Iran doesn't appreciate his efforts as the headlines today reveal, "Iran is still thumbing their nose at the West." Hmmm. Does that mean we can expect a nuclear blast any day now? Somehow the criteria for this award has gone down hill. Who in their right mind would put Barak Obama and Al Gore in the same league with Mother Teresa? AND... I wonder if the committee who made the award realizes how divided our own nation has become since he's become President. Interesting thought.

In my opinion, he was already a narcissistic, arrogant personality. Now I can only imagine how inflated his ego will become. Open wide, America...we're about to have healthcare rammed down our throats, like it or not. It's not about pleasing everyone, it's more about keeping on task for Change!!!
